A Guide To Wedding Planner Jobs
There will always be a need for wedding planners, because people will always get married and many of them will choose to hand the details off to a professional. There are a variety of wedding planner jobs available if you want to work in this industry. The first possibility open to you is that of an actual wedding planner. You may need to take courses in event and/or wedding planning before you can successfully open a business. There are distance learning courses that teach you everything you need to know about running your own wedding planner business.
A busy, successful wedding planner is most likely going to need at least one assistant, which is an entry level type of job that requires no previous experience. Of course, previous experience in any job you apply for is a good thing, but usually you can get a wedding planner assistant job without having done it before. To be a good wedding planner assistant, you must be presentable, have good interpersonal skills and be able to handle multiple tasks under strict deadlines. Like the wedding planner, you will be dealing with many different people and types of personalities, and coordinating many different things to happen on the same day at the right times.
There are other jobs that you can do where you work with wedding planners but are not a part of their business. For example, if you love to bake and are skilled at cake decorating, you could go into the wedding cake business. Wedding planners will most likely make up a good portion of your clientele. There are not only culinary and pastry schools you can attend but shorter courses on the art of creating wedding cakes if you want to get into business quickly and for as little money as possible.
Photographers are other professionals who often work with wedding planners. While not technically in the category of wedding planner jobs, photographers are very important to the wedding. The images captured by the wedding photographer will be cherished for a lifetime, so one must be skilled in bringing out the best in their subjects, understanding the right light, poses, settings and so forth. Caterers and florists are two more types of professionals who often work closely with wedding planners. As you can see, it takes a lot of people and a lot of different skills to put together a single wedding, so you should be able to find a job in the industry that appeals to you.
